Regular Physical Fitness Regime is Good For Your Health

Do you need some motivation to start or stick to exercising? Regular activity has numerous positive effects on your health. Whether for children or adults, a regular fitness regime doesn’t have to be tedious or boring. Any activity you can think of which helps you and your family get fit and in good health is a step in the right direction.

Breaking the habit of a sedentary lifestyle and replacing with a health-conscious option may be hard to get used to, but making exercise a new way of life will reap in long-term benefits. Your heart will be able to pump increased amounts of blood, as well as lowering your heart rate in a period of rest. Your cholesterol levels can also be regulated. Blood pressure can be reduced and excess weight can become a thing of the past.

Before beginning any sort of exercise program there are a few basics to keep in mind, whether the fitness regime is for yourself or your whole family:

* Be sure to get your physician’s approval before starting any new fitness regime. This is especially important if there are any health issues which could be magnified by a particular form of exercise.

What is Zone Diet

There are many diets on the market these days and most people have tried more than one.  The Zone Diet has been around for a number of years and is still being chosen by those looking to lose weight and improve their health.

History of the Zone diet

The Zone diet was designed by Barry Sears, a former biochemist at M.I.T.  He says that the problem with our lives revolves around eating habits.  If we were to eat in “the Zone” we would be healthier, not have to contend with obesity and live a longer, more meaningful life.

His principle is based on the “40-30-30” rule of eating.  Your body needs a moderate amount of protein, more carbohydrates and some healthy fat at every meal.  Eating foods in strict proportions makes you feel better and reduces future disease processes from entering your body.

How it works

The Zone diet claims to be different from other diet plans out there because it doesn’t advocate one food group over the others.  Diets that limit or eliminate a particular food group miss the point of proper body nutrition.  The human body needs all types of foods to survive and thrive.

Less Calories Lose Weight

When it comes to weight loss, everyone has an opinion on how the latest diet will help you.  To their surprise, these diets don’t work for all people.  For lasting weight loss it’s time to go back to the drawing board and learn the basics.

Let’s start with how many calories you need to eat on a daily basis.  For women, a healthy daily caloric intake is 1,800 calories.  For men, the number is slightly higher at 2,200 calories.  For either group, ingesting less than 1,000 calories per day is considered dangerous.  The body needs at least that many calories for daily maintenance activities.

Most of us ingest more calories than that in a day.  The deciding factor in any diet is the number of calories being eaten on a daily basis.  The facts are still the facts.  To burn one pound of fat, 3,500 calories need to be lost.  Dieticians say that a healthy weight-loss program will have you losing no more than two pounds a week.  That doesn’t seem like much, but it will add up to 104 pounds in a year.

Losing weight is about the numbers.  Fewer calories in means more weight lost.  To lose that weight, a lower calorie diet is combined with some form of physical activity to move fat from your body’s stores to be used as fuel for your activities.

How Do Detox Diets Work?

As a society that is going “green,” we are trying to do the same with our bodies.  Detoxification is the process of eliminating harmful substances from the body.  Detox diets are designed to aid the natural process of detoxification already in motion in your body.

Have you heard of “body burden”?  It refers to the amount of toxins in your body.  Testing urine, liver function and blood work is said to determine your “body burden.”

A build-up of toxins in the body is blamed for many conditions of the body.  If you feel tired, sluggish, and sick or suffer from frequent headaches, your body may need to be detoxified.  A detox diet is supposed to eliminate the toxins lurking in your body so that you feel energized and full of life again.

How do they work?

A detox diet works by retraining your body to process foods.  The diets usually begin with a fasting period where no food is eaten.  The body begins with a clean slate.  Lots of water and only certain foods are eaten in the next phase to help eliminate toxins.  Many detox diets recommend a colon flush to clean the intestines.

Five Mom-friendly Fitness Workouts

Once your baby is born you are filled with so much joy at the blessed event.  Unfortunately, this blessed event also comes with a few extras – weight gain and flaccid muscles for a start.  Here are five workouts moms can do inside and outside the home to get their pre-baby shape back.

When you first bring your baby home, the trick is how to get sleep and tend to your baby at the same time.  The last thing you are thinking about is weight loss.  After the first few months when baby begins to settle into a routine, you’ll have more time to think about your body.  If you breastfeed, good news.  Breastfeeding causes the uterus to contract and return to its normal shape a lot faster that for mothers who do not.

Moms say that they don’t have time to think about fitness even after baby learns to sleep - when baby sleeps, they clean up and get a bath.  However, baby has changed his or her schedule and changing yours will benefit you and baby.  Here are some ways to achieve it:

1.  Go for a walk.  Everyone needs fresh air.  For a newborn, use a Snuggly to carry him if he is awake.  You can talk to him while you walk.  If baby is asleep or on the edge of sleep, bundle him up in a stroller and hit the pavement.  Jog strollers allow more ambitious moms who would rather run to do so along with baby.
